Scottsdale, Arizona - You are going to find this blog one that consistently prods your business, or organization, into action.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, there is a significant transitional shift occurring in the way information is transmitted.
The hardest hit is the print industry. In the first quarter of 2009, advertising revenues were down a whopping 28%, or $2.6 billion dollars!
Certainly some of this is due to the recession. But by comparison, Internet advertising revenues were only down 5%, for the same time period.
Unfortunately, these advertising losses translate into job loses. Gannet just announced another 1,400 jobs will be cut.
Contrast that to Facebook which now has more than 150 million members, and surprisingly the fastest growing segment is the 35-54 segment. And this segment is doubling every two months!
So, what does this mean to your business, or organization?
You must not stick you head in the sand. The information age is completely changing, and the way you will be communicating with your patrons is going to change. This change is rapidly moving to a social media model where organizations are building their own media infrastructure with Blogs, Social Media, Facebook, Twitter, and the like.
These tools essentially put the power of a television station, a radio station, a magazine, and a newspaper directly in your hands, and at a considerable savings. For some organizations, some of these advertising revenues are going to pour into their coffers!
I am currently working with a trade association on their blog. In our business plan is the inclusion of advertising revenues once we get the eyeballs. In our first week, 15% of the membership joined, and that number is steadily climbing.
I am absolutely convinced that they will be seeing, never before realized, advertising revenues within the first three months. I am also convinced that their outlay, to build the media site, will be in positive territory within the first 12 months.
Take-away? Your organization simply must construct your own on-line media channel, and we would love to help!
